AlphaTauri has confirmed their dynamic driver line-up for the 2024 season, and Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo are back in the drivers’ seats! The decision comes after Tsunoda's impressive performance since his 2021 debut, showcasing "natural talent and constant improvement." Meanwhile, Ricciardo, despite a current injury, has previously shown his mettle with the team in races like Hungary and Belgium. He's not new to AlphaTauri, having raced for them under their former name, Toro Rosso. And we’re fairly certain fans across the globe would have it no other way.
According to the report on the Formula 1 website, Team Principal Franz Tost was confident of the duo's potential, “With Daniel’s race-winning experience and Yuki's development, we'll have one of the most competitive driver pairings in 2024.” As Liam Lawson steps in as the reserve driver, Tost added, “Liam will significantly contribute in his development role...he will have a future in Formula 1 soon.”
Tsunoda, currently racing on the track, is looking forward to working with veteran and paddock favorite Ricciardo, he says, slowly becoming a favorite on the circuit himself. On the other hand, Ricciardo, though recovering, is excited about 2024, stating, “We are building, and it's a great feeling.” We are glad to have you back, Honey Badger.
While Ricciardo's complete recovery is anticipated, Lawson will maintain his position. That closed out all but one vacant seat for 2024, and that is at Williams, with Logan Sargeant as the current contender.
